Nasim Mahmud is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB), Dhaka. He is also jointly serving as a postdoctoral fellow at the Dynamics Lab, UCD Geary Institute at University College Dublin, Ireland.  He has obtained a PhD in Computer Science (Hasselt University – Belgium – Maastricht University – Netherlands). He has been working as a researcher in the Human-Computer Interaction Lab in Expertise Centre for Digital Media (EDM), a research institute at Hasselt University, Belgium. For his PhD, he has been working on  CoLaSUE: Context-aware Local Service Fabrics in Large Scale UbiComp Environments  project. He has been investigating how to assist people to find context sensitive and reliable help in a large-scale public space or urban space.

His research interest fits in the Human-Computer Interaction domain.  His PhD thesis contributions are focused on the area of context-aware computing systems and social computing.

Prior to joining the EDM, he studied masters in Interactive Systems Engineering (ISE), in the Department of Computer and Systems Sciences (DSV), a joint department between Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Sweden and Stockholm University (SU), Sweden.

He has worked in SatPoint AB, Sweden as a researcher (ex-jobbare) for a short period. As and interaction designer, there he designed and developed an interactive system (MMI) for a marine stabilized satellite communication system. Obsolete site
